New volunteers for committee chairs

It’s only February, but it is that time of year when we start planning for next year. Board members usually serve a two-year term in one position and many are finishing their second year.  That means we need to find new volunteers for committee chairs. Before that happens, we need to appoint a nominating committee of 3-5 people to help identify people to fill open positions for next year.  The nominating committee is a one month commitment, but is vital to the PTA board. Teaching Garden

Part of what makes Gullett such a unique and wonderful school is its embrace of nature: ducks, chickens, and turkeys enliven the kindergarten wing; a koi pond with a splashing waterfall beautifies a breezeway; butterfly gardens attract winged visitors; and chinchillas, a tarantula, and fish vie for attention in hallway aquariums. In 2006-07, Gullett wants to build on its success by providing students with a new teaching garden, designed for entire classes to explore natural habitats and ecosystems. Gullett teachers, in concert with the Outdoor Classroom Committee and a parent landscape architect, have designed a native habitat garden for the 4th-grade courtyard. It's another great year ahead of us and we want to welcome you back to Gullett - the best school in Austin! One of the reasons Gullett is so successful and such a great community is because of the support of it's parents. We truly hope you find a way to become involved and feel a part of the Gecko spirit.
